We were in the process of purchasing our forever home and needed the peace of mind that the property had no hidden issues. We contacted Harry to arrange a survey and he was professional and friendly from the first phone call.

He gave us everything we needed to make an informed decision on what services we should hire him for, and delivered the report in the extremely quick timescale that was agreed up front. The report was to the standard that gave us a detailed idea of the condition of the property and advice on any areas that needed attention, in addition the fee agreed was as promised and great value. We would definitely be using Harry again for any future projects.

He was professional, easy to work with, and kept things moving at the right pace. We appreciated his balanced approach and would be happy to work with him again if similar matters arise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our practice is based and operates in Jersey Channel Islands: we provide trusted surveying services across the island and the UK mainland for select projects.
A mortgage valuation is carried out for the lender, not for you. It is a basic check on the property’s value and may not highlight defects or risks. As we are an independent surveyor, we provide you a much fuller understanding of the property’s condition before you commit. This is the reason why most buyers arrange one in addition to the lender’s valuation.
Fees depend on the type of survey and the size, age and type of property. Once you submit a Quote Request, we provide a fixed quote up front typically within 24 hours. We greatly value transparency, so there will be no surprises.
A building surveyor assesses the physical condition of your property, including its construction, defects, and what it will cost to repair or maintain. Whereas a valuer assesses what a property is worth. The two are related but separate: a survey tells you about the building, a valuation tells you about its market or insurance value. At H.C Surveying we provide both, and can advise which you need.
It depends on the property. A Condition Report (Level 1) suits newer homes in reasonable order. Our Homebuyer Report (Level 2) is the popular cost-effective choice for most homes as it covers all ground. A Building Survey (Level 3) is best for older, altered or high-value properties. If you are unsure, get in touch as we will happily recommend the right level for your situation and goals.
